DescriptionThe Global Programs (GloPro) Analytics & Products Team has an immediate need for a creative and driven Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) with a passion for building solutions that have a measurable impact. The right candidate will be innovative and technically versatile. They will have the opportunity to work with one of the largest and most complex data warehouses in the world to gather insights using tools from across Amazon. Their efforts will support GloPro and Amazon Stores Customer Service’s Operations and Programs teams to solve problems and delight our customers. This role may provide dedicated analytical support to a key stakeholder team. Dedicated analytical support includes managing all analytical requests for a key stakeholder, design/implement larger improvements such as accurately calculating edge cases and hands-on resolution of complex analysis, dashboard and savings validation requests.This candidate should be proficient in the architecture implementation of data processing solutions using multiple platforms. They should excel in the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. The role is hands-on role in both the design and the delivery of the team’s most critical data artifacts. The candidate should be proficient in outlining technical trade-offs and recommending the best path forward. The problems this role will solve are complex, but the solutions are expected to be as simple as possible. The role requires excellent business and communication skills to work with business analysts, data engineers, and program managers to determine how best to design reporting solutions and analytics data systems. The ability to learn new technology and develop industry relevant architectures and convey business value is critical to the role.Other international Amazon corporate offices with a customer service center of excellence may be considered.Key job responsibilities

Design and implement data pipelines from disparate sources to ingest, transform, and store the data in various relational and non-relational models.

Gathering and understanding data requirements, working with cross-functional teams to achieve high quality and scalable data solutions for our products and mechanisms.

Dive deep into technical details (e.g., key dependencies, design choices, operability, etc.) with engineering teams and drive constructive technical discussions.

Build end-to-end BI solution designs (quality, scalability, latency, security, performance, data integrity, etc.).

Determine lineage to understand the chain of custody and transformation of data

Create interactive visual dashboards with QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI and other data-viz tools.

Apply basic statistical methods (e.g. regression) to difficult business problems and explain these methods’ assumptions and limitations.

Manage all analytical requests for a key stakeholder.

Design/implement improvements such as accurately quantifying and calculating costs/savings for edge cases.

Hands-on resolution of complex analysis, dashboard and savings validation requests.

Exploring and learning the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.

Write clear documentation, architecture documents and create an engineering roadmap.

Create technical content that is easily adopted and reusable by others.

A day in the lifeThe role is part of the Analytics team in the Customer Service Global Programs and Outsourcing Team. The primary focus is on iterating and improving existing solutions; from minimizing maintenance to building new features and capabilities for our users and stakeholders in Customer Service.You will provide dedicated analytical support to a key stakeholder team. You will manage all analytical requests for a key stakeholder, design/implement larger improvements such as accurately calculating savings for improvements in edge cases. About the teamThe GloPro Analytics team provides ad-hoc analysis support in the form of consultation, project scoping, research, experimental design, project solution validation, and advanced analytics including machine learning models and algorithms. To increase the speed of data-driven actions by our stakeholders, we build automated self-serve solutions and web applications. In addition, we produce scalable analytics mechanisms and solutions through automation, data visualization and tools.Members of this team will be challenged to innovate use the latest big data techniques. Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.

Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling.

3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience.

Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.

Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab.

Experience applying basic statistical methods (e.g. regression) to difficult business problems and understand these methods’ assumptions and limitations.

SQL, Analytical Problem Solving (Coding in one other language, preferably Python) and Metrics/Reporting.

Experience improving code quality and optimizing BI processes (speed, cost, reliability, etc.).

Experience designing and implementing self-service access to underlying data as appropriate.

Experience establishing data and reporting SLAs.

Strategic thinking

Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications

Expert in SQL.

Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business

The base pay for this position ranges from $79,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
