The Certified Retail Pharmacy Technician has responsibility for assisting with controlled substances management meeting DEA FDA and state regulations. The Certified Pharmacy Technician applies pharmacy knowledge and experience to identify variances and outliers in clinical practice to prevent medication errors. The Certified Pharmacy Technician is a frontline customer service agent and fields/triages calls and questions regarding prescriptions insurance payments etc.

Enters patient demographics and prescription orders and allergies into pharmacy computer system

Retrieves and repackages medications based on the prescription order for pharmacist review

Manages inventory and places/receives/verifies wholesale medication and supply orders; processes recalls

Transcribes verbal prescription orders from licensed individual practitioners. Processes IVR prescription refill requests and IVR messages. Performs prescription transfers to/from other retail pharmacies. Reviews CSMD information as required for controlled substance prescriptions.

Uses ScriptCenter pharmacy automation effectively

Identifies cost-saving opportunities for customers such as generics copay cards coupons

Compounds non-sterile products accurately and aseptically

Maintains accurate perpetual inventories of narcotics and identifies discrepancies

Processes Point of Sale transactions cash sales payroll deductions etc

Manages OTC inventory and sales

Manages expiration dates and returns through reverse distributor

Maintains prescription recordkeeping as required by law

Performs pharmaceutical calculations accurately and independently

Processes patient medication orders billing adjudicates claims performs PBM reconciliations etc.

Assists customers (patients families and other caregivers) within scope of practice by phone or in person

Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Graduate of ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Program and Associate Degree or Equivalent Experience

TN Board of Pharmacy Technician License. Licensure must be received within 90 days from the first day of employment

National Certification.
