Description We are in the process of recruiting a Cost Accountant for our operations located in Franklin, Tennessee. The primary function of this role is to work closely with plant and department managers, manage cost and production areas, and lead forecasting and budgeting processes. The successful candidate will also be involved in cost accounting, reporting, month-end processes, and inventory management in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities: Collaborate with both plant and department managers in a cooperative manner. Generate various reports as needed for all finance leadership. Calculate daily CPUs and efficiency reports to aid in the improvement of critical cost and production sectors. Develop a weekly trending variance analysis to monitor performance against the standard. Collaborate with engineering to create a user-friendly daily plant dashboard covering cost, production, shipping, efficiency, and safety. Lead the annual AOP and periodic forecast updates for all labor and overhead expenses in the plant. Work with department managers to create budgets for headcount, supplies, maintenance, etc. Regularly prepare production and general plant performance reports with a comparative view to AOP and forecasts. Lead the yearly Standard Cost Roll for all manufactured items in Franklin, TN by updating BOMs and routings with alignment to yearly AOP. Ensure accurate, fully costed BOMs for all WIP and FG inventory throughout the year. Prepare monthly JE’s promptly. Analyze month-end results with comparative view to AOP and forecasts and explain variances. Perform account reconciliations for plant-related accrual accounts. Maintain accurate perpetual inventory balances for all Tennessee locations, including the main plant, warehouse, and any outside warehouse as applicable. Plan, coordinate, and conduct annual physical inventory for Tennessee facilities. Develop, improve and implement process and controls for regular cycle counts in the manufacturing facility. Requirements Proficiency in Accounting Functions is required for the role of Cost Accountant. Mastery of Cost Accounting is integral to the successful performance in this position. Experience with Annual Inventory is necessary for this role. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A minimum of three years of experience in a cost accounting role is essential. Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail are required. Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data are needed. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, is necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is needed. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential. Detail oriented certification such as CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is preferred. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial regulations is required. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information is essential.
