Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from Y-12 staff employed directly by the security complex. Provides an advanced level of knowledge to the CNS Y-12 Classification Office.

Implements and manages Federal Regulation, Statutes, and DOE Orders pertaining to the identification and protection of both classified and controlled unclassified information at the CNS Y-12 National Security Complex (NSC).

Makes cognizant decisions on information that is being identified and protected in accordance with published guidance, DOE Orders and Federal Regulations.

Reads, understands, and makes an accurate classification determination for any document or material produced by any organization at Y-12.

Functions as the public release authority for documents and materials, some of which will include highly technical information or involve patents for new technologies.

Helps field DC/RO’s with reviews by helping them find the right guidance and ensures that every aspect of a document is considered and properly vetted against the applicable.

Must have a demonstrated ability to handle issues and concerns directly related to key management systems at the plant level and capable of assisting in the development of long-term strategies for information security operations and classification decisions at the Y-12 NSC.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

Candidate must be a DOE Certified Classified/ Reviewing Official (DC/RO)

BS Degree and 20 + years' experience or MS Degree with 19 + years' experience

DOE Q Clearance required.

Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this position.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre-employment drug screen.

Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Desired Qualifications:

A self-starter capable of exerting considerable latitude in determining classification objectives, and a proven ability to complete work assignments through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of supervision.
