Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Job Responsibilites

Collaborate with internal Product Development Engineers and external customers to refine the plastic part design for manufacturability
The successful applicant will demonstrate free thinking and exhibit a high level of creativity
Participate in & manage Mold Design Reviews with internal/external mold tooling suppliers
Work with Launch Team Engineers to ensure that all product requirements are met
Understand Process Flow, PFMEA, and Control Plans
Specify, quote, procure new injection molding machines, & auxiliary equip. for the plants
Direct Process and Tooling Technicians on related issues that need to be addressed
Lead external CAD team on the design and release of drawings for molds, fixtures & tooling
Recommend multiple design ideas & work w/ external team to provide dimensional layouts
Perform tolerance analyses, assign part#’s, develop BOM’s & enter data in various systems
Work closely with design to ensure designs are optimized for production processes
Contribute design concepts to improve quality of product or reduce product cost
Assist engineers in creation and routing of manufacturing engineering changes
Review existing data sets, determine gaps, solve or work with others to complete missing information
Attend corporate workshops, serve as local expert on the latest modeling & data storage
PLC Programming and support
Robot Programming and Support
Develop data bases to support data analytics for root cause analysis
This position will require some travel

What your background should look like:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
3-5 years of experience in plastics engineering
Experience with Thermoplastic Injection Molding, Scientific Injection Molding Principles, and Decoupled Molding
Experience with in-mold pressure sensors (closed-loop)
Proficiency with CAD in order to design tooling for plastic products for manufacturing
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Prior Project Engineer / Project Management experience preferred
PLC/Robot/ Cognex and or Keyence Vision Programming experience
Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering Technology
Experience with PTC PDMLink, MS Excel, MS Project and Web Browsers
Experience with small precision plastic part design
Detailed knowledge of machine hardware, i.e.: screws, nuts, bolts
Additional certifications preferred include RJG Master Molder I & II training
SQL Experience in writing or developing databases

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience.
