The skilled team of Sr. Lab Assistants, Lab Assistants, MTs, and MLTs work together to provide all laboratory services to LeConte patients in a timely manner. In this department, the staff is focused and goal-driven to provide accurate and sufficient results for the people they serve. Position Summary: The MT performs routine and specialized clinical lab tests for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by physicians. Reads and interprets tests and performs appropriate testing.

Prepares sterile media for use in growing bacterial cultures; reads cultures.

Analyzes blood, body fluids and parasites.

Maintains required records, reports and statistics as directed.

Performs quality control and media processing.

Educates others as necessary.

Performs equipment maintenance as needed.

Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

QualificationsMinimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
