Summary Responsible for patrolling all facilities and responding to incidents to protect the safety of persons and property on the premises of Baptist Health Sciences University. Under the immediate supervision of the Lieutenant, responsible for a designated security watch of 8 hours/day, 5 days/week. Incumbent is subject to hours beyond the normal work day and periodic amendment of shift due to staffing needs.The person in this position will serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). A CSA has significant responsibility for student and campus activities and is designated as an individual to whom students and employees should report criminal offenses. It is the responsibility of the CSA to report to the Security Office all allegations of crimes.Responsibilities
Monitors and authorizes entrance to the assigned area for purposes of deterring crime or misconduct and for detecting and initiating corrective action on security problems and safety hazards. Patrols on-foot and via company vehicle to further monitor university campus.Open and close all buildings by checking doors, occupancy, and activation/de-activation of alarms.
Responds to all calls of alarm or disorder, assesses the situation and acts accordingly. Documents occurrences and related acts as such incidents occur to maintain the security of BHSU. Performs escorts to staff and students as required within policy guidance.
Enforces the BHSU security rules, policies, and procedures and detains suspects under the Tennessee Law as it becomes necessary in the support of the mission. Maintain good standings on required certifications and licensures.
Serves as a resource for facilitating university communication by processing, receiving, and disseminating information to the appropriate department, individual, or student. Serve as campus dispatch providing appropriate information to other departmental staff on duty.
Controls traffic in the area of parking and other critical loading zones by enforcing university parking policies to ensure compliance.
Effectively communicates and interacts on a daily basis with individuals and creates and promotes crime prevention opportunities.
