Position DescriptionThe department of Social Services is seeking a Risk Management & Wellbeing Coordinator. This position is responsible for the administrative and professional duties involved in the daily safety, security, and workplace well- being of the customers that visit Metro Social Services and the employees who work at Metro Social Services, and any outside co-located locations Metro Social Services operates from.Metropolitan Social Services (MSS), a department of Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, focuses on topics and issues continually effecting the economic and social wellbeing of Nashvillians. National and local policy choices have resulted in a deterioration of standard of living and put more people into poverty. Poverty can be multidimensional and result from long-term processes of inequality, persistent exclusion, concentration of economic power, access to wealth-building and social capital, as well as broad transformations in work and society.Typical Duties

Safety and Security at Metro Social Services locations

Responsible for the security operations during any shelter that MSS may be operating, and ensuring that any other security is aware of the protocols.

Provides and/or conducts regular safety/security training to all Metro Social Services (MSS) employees at the main location and all co-located locations.

Is the MSS security point person at the shelter(s).

Develops and implements the security plan for MSS staff and customers.

Ensures that all assigned security company employees are aware of our internal safety plan and protocols.

Makes regular building and property rounds, including parking lots.

Risk Management and Emergency Operations

Liaison with OEM (Office of Emergency Management); Fire Warden, and Chair of the Safety Committee.

Develops, coordinates, implements, and maintains the natural disaster drill training calendar for staff and all co-located MSS sites.

Stays abreast of cutting edge training and data to keep MSS educated and current on safety and security at work, in the community, and at home.

Active lead in MSS safety plan and committee, internally and with the Office of Emergency Management.

Establishes risk management plans with a unified departmental response to any emerging event.

Identifies potential departmental and systemic factors that could potentially contribute to adverse events.

Facilitates staff education at initial orientation, and ongoing, on MSS’ risk management program, departmental risk identification and risk reduction strategies.

Stays current on all emergency and safety practices and providing training to all agency staff.

Provides de-escalation techniques in necessary situations.

Works closely with the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) unit and the implementation of MSS therapy dogs.

May be responsible to speak/represent the Executive Director and/or MSS leadership in the community and in meeting settings.

Attends meetings and trainings as needed.

Assumes other duties as needed and/or assigned.

Minimum QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's Degree and two (2) years of risk management and/or security-related experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degreeREQUIRED LICENSEValid Driver's LicenseCandidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply. Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
