Software Engineer

CGI is looking for engineers with 2-4 years of development experience to join our team in Lafayette, LA and Knoxville, TN. You will enter our month-long training program. CGI will invest in your hands-on training using project-based learning to grow your skills in Angular, ServiceNow, AWS cloud, and full stack capabilities. This position would suit a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic software developer with a desire to learn and deliver quality applications while providing excellent customer service.

Your future duties and responsibilities Research, learn, and implement new technologies efficiently. Work on a highly skilled and diverse team supporting clients across multiple industries. Demonstrate troubleshooting skills, communicate well, foster collaboration and provide insight while contributing to the completion of business requirements and transformation. Other responsibilities:• Complete full lifecycle software development• Understand technical specs• Write well crafted, testable, and efficient code• Document and maintain software functionality• Support release and deployment• Implement standard methodologies• Handle personal responsibilities while supporting team sprint planning and deliveries• Proactively help identify project risks and help mitigate problems

Required qualifications to be successful in this role Due to the nature of the government contract , US Citizenship is required.• 2-5+ years of development experience• Understanding of modern Java and the software development process• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.• Demonstrated problem solving ability• Desire to continue to grow as a software engineer• At least two years of professional work experience• BA/BS preferred, or in place of a degree

Additional experience in the following is a benefit:• Spring Framework (Boot/Data/MVC)• Common frameworks such as Lombok• Experience in analysis, maintenance and testing of a Java code base• Basic programming skills using object-oriented programming (OOP) languages• Exposure to relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle) basic SQL query language skills
