Position Summary:

Specialist will be responsible for the overseeing the planning, implementation and evaluation of all programs within the suite. In coordination with the assistant manager, they will manage all schedules of suite mates to insure that ratios are met, lunches and breaks are covered and plan times are given.

Responsibilities

Fulfills job description responsibilities and schedule of teacher at Nanny’s.

Twice monthly rotates through center floater role by working 9-6.

Weekly reviews suite lesson plans and developmental assessments. Copies and returns to classroom for posting.

Submits weekly report to Director with summary of suites goals and objectives.

Attends a weekly meeting with Director and/or Assistant Manager.

Insures that ratios are met at all times in the suite and that breaks, lunches and plan times are covered by working with assistant manager.

Conducts playground checks for opening and closing playgrounds, per the state checklist.

Serves as the first line substitute for suite mates as directed by assistant manager.

Insures adherence to all policies and guidelines as set forth by Nanny’s, Covenant Health, Department of Human Services, Knox County Health Department, Fire Marshal and STAR rating program.

Insures that the suite is arranged, equipped and schedules followed per ITERS or ECERS criteria.

Insures that suite is properly stocked and requests for supplies are submitted by Friday at 4PM.

Models appropriate communication with children and parents – both written and verbal. Coach and mentor accordingly.

Assists Director in promotion plans or in evaluation of applicants for enrollment.

Provides training for staff in suite.

Monitors care routines and program delivery.

Reviews and distributes developmental assessments.

Maintains logs on bites, ouch, bump and bruise reports.

Facilitates parent conferences with teachers and Director.

Co-conducts monthly suite meeting with the Director.

Provides feedback to the Director for bi-annual performance reviews.

Assists Director at staff meetings or trainings as assigned.

Assists suite mates at Parent Open House.

Adheres to all policies as stated in the Nanny’s/Covenant Health handbook. In addition, complies with all “expectations and zero tolerance” policies as stated on the two forms signed annually. As a result – maintains a “Meets Expectations” rating or higher in all areas of the bi-annual performance review including but not limited to:Dependability: (Required attendance met, punctuality, occurrences etc.)Job Requirements: (Training hours, staff meeting attendance, dress code, parking, phone, etc.)Documentation/Communication: (Paperwork, verbal and written, etc.)Team Work: (Interactions with co-workers, flexibility, quantity/quality of work, etc.)Job Performance:(Interactions with children and families, policies/procedures compliance, follows schedules, etc.)Classroom: (cleanliness, appearance, appropriateness, bulletin boards).

Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsMinimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED. Minimum Experience: If they have a Child Development Associate (CDA, AA or BS/BA then two plus (2+) year’s experience in group care setting required, or ten plus (10+) years’ experience with group care setting. Licensure Requirements: Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification required.
