OverviewSpecialty Practice Coordinator, Knoxville Heart Group Full Time, 80 hours per pay period, Day shift Covenant Medical Group is Covenant Health’s employed and managed medical practice organization, with more than 300 top Physicians and providers spanning the continuum of care in 20 cities throughout East Tennessee. Specialties include cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious disease, neurology, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, occupational medicine, orthopedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, pulmonology, reproductive medicine, rheumatology, sleep medicine and urology. Position Summay: The Specialty Practice Coordinator coordinates the on-call schedule for the Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APP) for Cardiology Associates of East Tennessee (CAET). Responsibilities include creation and communication of on-call obligations, tracking of Combined Time Off (CTO), coordination of outreach clinic schedules and support of other front desk duties as necessary. Develops the on-call schedule for participating CAET physicians and APPs while maintaining equitable distribution of call rotations for a minimum of a rolling six months.

Acts as IT Liaison for the development and maintenance of the eCare templates for CAET Physicians and APPs.

Tracks and monitors physician and APP CTO balances and notifies all parties of any changes made to the call schedule to accommodate approved time off requests.

Collaborates with Physicians, APPs, and their care team members as part of the team based approach to overall patient care.

Participates regularly in monthly staff meetings and periodically in physician and APP meetings.

Collaborates with APPs when rearranging coverage for consult shifts.

Responsible for communicating On-Call schedules and Rosters when necessary to all parties involved.

MaintainsPerfect Servedatabase for on-call schedule.

Cross-trains in all duties related to scheduling, registration, verification and pre-certification to support all aspects of front desk clerical duties.

Cross-trains on Hospital Desk duties; receive and transfer calls from Hospital and notifies on-call physician and/or APP of consults.

Interacts with physicians, APPs, staff and patients professionally and courteously and in alignment with AIDET fundamentals

Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.

QualificationsMinimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to an Associate’s degree. Preference may be given to individuals possessing an Associate’s degree in a directly-related field from an accredited college or university. Minimum Experience: Three (3) years medical office or hospital experience. Cardiology experience preferred. Requires basic understanding of general medical office procedures and basic understanding of medical terminology. Requires effective human relations and communication skills.
