Telephone Sales Representative to join our team in

LaVergne, TN(Greater Nashville Area). We’re looking for someone with a passion for independent publishing to promote our Client Publishers’ Adult and Children titles at independent bookstores across the US. This person will maintain, grow, and cultivate relationships at accounts utilizing strong selling, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Acts as a liaison between publishers and bookstores and works to identify and maximize sales opportunities. Partners with marketing, other sales teams, and departments to promote key publisher titles. Introduces and educates bookstores on frontlist titles from client publishers on a seasonal basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 2 years book selling experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working at independent bookstores
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sells into the independent bookstore channel, forms strong relationships at all pertinent levels of the account base
  • Responsible for the sales of client publisher titles into assigned accounts to include net sales, volume, returns, inventory selection and profitability.
  • Introduces and recommends new books and other general information of interest to customers
  • Serves as liaison between current bookstores and internal teams to resolve questions regarding titles and services
  • Works with Sales counterparts and management to expand sales in market territory
  • Engages with publishers regarding current and future titles and sales needs.
  • Acts as subject matter expert on titles, market and competitive conditions, and advertising and promotional activities. Coordinates with marketing and client publishers to recommend new titles, programs, and services to meet the business needs of assigned accounts.
  • Analyzes customer needs and interests and expedites the resolution of customer problems and/or complaints. Enlists the support of other departments as needed.
  • Maintains day-to-day relationships with accounts to discuss business reviews, sales/returns levels, programs, services, problems and/or issues. Provides information to accounts that can be used for sales forecasting.
