Description/Comment:We are looking for an experienced Accessibility Developer to join our Client Accessibility team.This team is responsible for the web, mobile and messaging platforms that serve Retail Clients.The organization defines the experience and oversees the management of electronic channels mobile apps), and internal platforms used by service representatives and financial consultants.Our purpose is to provide equal access to tools and experiences that enable all clients to achieve their financial objectives, while supporting the strategic growth of the firm.The accessibility team is responsible for: Execution Applying accessibility knowledge to a wide range of content including web, mobile applications, development process, and pattern creation.Client service Ensuring we produce accessible content for our users Partnership Bringing our knowledge and skills to complement, strengthen, and shape an experienced and dynamic team of professionalsWhat you will do: Work with Accessibility Principal to defines accessibility tools & technologies.Work with development teams to help debug accessibility issues related to assistive technology as required.Ability to write maintainable accessibility code and handle several concurrent projects.Recommending accessibility solutions to development teams to maintain compliance while creating accessible products.Provide technical guidance to teams during recurring consultation sessions.Respond to business and technology stakeholders' queries related to accessibility findings and recommendations.Assist with accessibility development training and workshops.Provide targeted UI (User Interface) audits and accessibility code validation along with remediation plans and techniques.Contributing to accessibility testing standards that will scale across a large organization. Additional Job Details:- Must have bachelor’s degree in computer science and 3+ years’ experience in a UI development role.
- Understanding of the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.0/2.1 AA guidelines, ADA Title III, and basic accessibility design principles.
- Strong understanding of digital platforms, design principles, techniques, design systems and frameworks.
- Strong working knowledge and practical experience with applying proper semantic HTML mark-up, CSS, JavaScript, UI Frameworks (Angular/React), testing technologies such as unit tests, integration tests and UI tests, accessible coding best practices and WAI ARIA, Native Mobile Accessibility best practices (IOS & Android).
- The ability to conduct accessibility testing with assistance against the WCAG 2.0/2.1 (AA)
- Success Criteria requirements using the following methodologies:
- visual analysis, color sampling o screen reader reviews, keyboard only, gesture only; and,
- code reviews
- Experience with automated testing for accessibility.
- Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.
- Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
- Strong knowledge of the range of assistive technologies, which may include JAWS, NVDA, Voiceover, Window-Eyes, Zoom Text or other speech recognition software.
- Empathy and understanding of disabilities and impairments that affect the way people use the web.
- Experience working in highly collaborative software development environments on large, complex desktop web, mobile web, and mobile applications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time with attention to detail.
- Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
- Available for all Office Hours times in the AM and PM CST time so tech questions can be addressed.
- Experience/skills preferred: Certified IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)
- Familiarity with Accessibility Management Platform (AMP)
