Description We are offering an opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in Houston, Texas. This role involves maintaining and processing all department invoices, managing off-site check storage, and providing administrative support to vendors and departments. Responsibilities: Handle and organize all incoming accounts payable mail Log, receive, code and match all invoices into the relevant system Distribute invoices for proper authorization for payment Review all invoices to ensure appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms Organize, maintain, and file all department records Respond to all vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements Perform AP department clerical duties including making copies, maintaining records and logs, and scanning check copies with supporting documentation to create digital file of the check Interact with other departments in answering questions regarding AP records and posted expenses Participate in other Accounting functions or work with other departments on, including but not limited to, month-end close, purchase orders, maintain vendor master address book, and special projects Requirements Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Experience with Great Plains (GPAC) Familiarity with IBM AS/400 Knowledge of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Proficient in Microsoft Excel Ability to perform Accounting Functions Experience in Accounts Payable (AP) Knowledge of Check Processing procedures Proficient in Data Entry tasks Ability to resolve Discrepancy issues effectively Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines Knowledge of financial regulations and legislation.
