Description Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to join our organization located in Downtown Houston. This is a contract-to-hire position, offering the opportunity for long-term employment based on performance and fit within the company. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of relevant AR experience, with a strong background in cash applications and the ability to prepare and analyze aging reports. Process and apply cash receipts accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring proper allocation to customer accounts.

Prepare and maintain aging reports to monitor the status of outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue payments.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues related to customer payments, short payments, or unapplied cash.

Collaborate with internal teams, such as Sales, Customer Service, and Collections, to resolve customer billing and payment inquiries.

Assist with the preparation and distribution of customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established billing cycles.

Monitor customer accounts for non-payments, delayed payments, or other irregularities, and take appropriate actions to address delinquent accounts.

Initiate collections activities, such as sending reminders, making collection calls, and coordinating with the Collections team.

Reconcile customer accounts on a regular basis to ensure accurate balances and resolve any outstanding issues.

Prepare and analyze AR reports, including aging reports, cash receipts summaries, and customer account statements.

Assist with month-end closing activities, including AR-related account reconciliations and preparation of journal entries.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records in the AR system, including contact information, payment terms, and credit limits.

Adhere to company policies, procedures, and internal controls related to AR activities.

Assist with other accounting and finance duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in accounts receivable, with a focus on cash applications and aging reports.

Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices related to AR functions.

Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications, with advanced Excel skills.

Experience with automated AR systems and ERP software is highly desirable.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve payment discrepancies.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Location and Compensation:This position is based in Downtown Houston, and the working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
