Agile Product Owner

Client Type: Financial Services

Location: Remote

Duration: Contract until end of 2023

Apex Systems, the nation's 2nd largest Information Technology staffing firm, has an opportunity for an Agile Product Owner to work for a large financial services company. This is a long term contract position with an opportunity to go full time for the right candidate. The client offers a variety of perks, including a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work with the newest technologies. This Agile Product Owner will be joining an existing team but will need to be able to work on his/her own and take ownership of the project.

Applicants must have 4+ years of Product Owner experience in an Agile environment. Candidates must also have experience in the banking industry, familiar with debit card projects, and mainframe experience.

Responsibilities Overview of the Agile Product Owner:
  • Represents business stakeholders to elicit, understand, analyze, document, refine and communicate business needs, so that business and/or technical delivery teams can build effective solutions.
  • Utilizes a proficient understanding of customer needs, as well as business vision and strategy, to prioritize investment, business value and delivery.
  • Works within multiple evolving development methodologies including iterative Agile and sequential Waterfall programs and projects, and variations thereof.
  • Serves as the business requirements expert, engaging and managing the work of subject matter specialists from the business.
  • Serves as the day to day decision maker and provides continual business guidance for the execution team.
  • Prioritizes the execution team's work so that it aligns with the sponsor's/business executive's strategies.
  • Leads, manages or orchestrates activities for completion and proper documentation of business requirements and validating metrics as appropriate for methodology and Enterprise controls.
  • Works with the business and IT delivery teams to identify and mitigate risks to include business operational risks.
  • Escalates issues and develops and recommends appropriate solutions. Works with different technologies (infrastructure, mobile, MSR-facing), and/or with vendor partnerships or software.

Required Experience:
  • 4+ years of experience in a Product Owner role
  • Banking experience
  • Agile - SAFe
  • Jira or similar Agile tracking tools
  • Mainframe/ Hosting experience
  • Experience with working with stakeholders, SMEs, etc.
  • LEAN and Six Sigma
Preferred Experience:
  • Debit Card projects
  • Credit Card processing
  • Payments Experience
