If you are an Application Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Houston, TX office, the Applications Engineer provides primary client-facing services and is also the primary medium between the client and Emersons product development team for software issues, defects and improvements. This individual will work closely with the business users in collecting requirements and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed project plan and system requirements for software development projects.

As an ApplicationsEngineer you will:
  • Work as a consultant to collect, document and understand client business processes and requirements and as an implementer to deliver the agreed upon functionality.
  • Coordinate between teams of technical resources and business stakeholders and have a detailed understanding of the technologies, systems, and processes that will be used in achieving project objectives.
  • Prepare UAT documents and run the UAT with the client.
  • Assist the QA team with test plans.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or technical equivalent plus 5 years of working experience, OR Masters Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering or technical equivalent plus 3 years of working experience
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, as required

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Experience studying pipeline schematics and translating them into pipeline models
  • Data analysis experience with an emphasis on graphic based analytics
  • Previous application engineering or business analysis experience in a project and services oriented environment, including interaction with external clients
  • Experience with project lifecycles from requirements to support transition
  • Basic understanding or working knowledge of C#, WPF, SQL, XML
  • Oil & Gas experience a plus
  • Visio, Access, and AutoCad experience, a plus
  • Intermediate to Expert in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
  • Good balance of technical knowledge and business acumen to help the team capture, evaluate, analyze and deliver on business needs
  • Ability to identify and effectively document issues, risks and action items
  • Experience with new product development and release cycles in a Professional Services/Technology Solutions environment a plus, as is experience with distributed and overseas teams
