Director - Solution Architecture (DSA) reports to the Vice President of Enterprise Architecture in the BIS organization. This role leads solutions evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across applications product lines and technologies based on enterprise digital strategies, business capabilities, business requirements and enterprise standards. This role focuses on establishing the solution layer across multiple delivery areas and ensuring that technology systems support the organization's business requirements and meet the needs of end users. The Assoc. Director - Solution Architect's primary focus is to lead solution architecture practice and support teams delivering business value to the customer. The Assoc. Director - Solutions Architect requires both technical and business knowledge and skills that are both broad and deep. To be effective this role must have experience in leading a team of architects providing solutions in application, data, infrastructure, and cloud architectures, and be comfortable with complex systems design. The Assoc. Director Solution Architect must be a senior technologist who has been in design and implementation leadership roles on multiple projects throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This person must be able to provide guidance around architecture and clearly and concisely communicate ideas and share information with executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources. The Assoc. Director - Solution Architect is expected to partner with other Principal Architect to define and adopt technology standards, best practices and plan enabling of architecture runway into the solutions layer. This role will also be partnering with DevOps leaders to adopt the DevOps practices that are defined at the Enterprise Level into the Solution layer. Responsibilities

  • Leads Solutions design and analysis for implementation of a solution architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on the enterprise strategies, business capabilities, value streams, business requirements and enterprise standards
  • Own the solution layer of the architecture to support delivery of business capabilities across multiple teams
  • Enable adoption of architecture standards, DevOps practices and technology standards into the Solution Architecture practice and implement them into the business solutions
  • Influence scope and solutions of work efforts to achieve business objectives while minimizing costs and technical debt
  • Facilitates, collaboration and works closely with various technology teams with in Business Information Systems (BIS) group to enable successful architecture delivery
    • Lead the team toward building reusable patterns of architecture and fit-for purpose technology standards that teams can leverage for delivery
    • Drive the definition and execution of technical enablers as part of the solution
    • Champion the execution of Non-functional requirements as part of the solution implementation
    • Supervises employees in their area of responsibility, provides guidance around work and deliverables to achieve the desired outcomes
    • Standard HR activities including goal setting, and all aspects of performance management.
Qualifications (designate requirements vs. preferences)Education
  • College Degree in computer science or information systems preferred
Work Experience
  • 10-12 years of progressive experience in a technology environment, including application development
  • 5-7 years of experience with systems analysis and design
  • 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role (team lead, etc.)

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to design major architectural aspects of an application covering all areas of architectural domains (Application, middleware/services, data, infrastructure, and Cloud)
  • Must have strong technical knowledge around CRM implementations like Salesforce, systems, and data integration along with cloud enablement
  • Self-motivated with strong sense of accountability, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively to attain results that meet the business needs
  • Strong understanding of network, computing infrastructure, software, and application development environments
  • Ability to manage the multiple facets of a project from staffing considerations, planning the project, allocation of resources, management of time and resources
