We have been retained by our client in Dallas, Texas (north Dallas) to deliver a Business Analyst, technical writing on a long-term contract basis, working onsite near Addison, to help document what is needed by the development team to build a software application used as an enterprise resource planning (ERP) tool. You will participate in generating innovative ideas for content as part of a development team working with business stakeholders. Our ideal candidates are familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC), user stories, functional specifications, use cases, technical specifications, from preliminary system analysis to tests and deployment of software application. The Business Analyst is tasked with building high quality documentation. Responsible for compiling project documentation and reporting organized content. Responsible for assisting the Project Manager in Configuration Management and revision control numbers for all the project documentation for each of releases. Responsible for scribing or taking notes during project meetings and maintaining the project communication distribution lists, and distributing content/documentation.This work is onsite in Dallas, Texas near Addison, Texas area, off Preston Road, M-F, 40 hours week, easy parking, plenty of good lunch places nearby.Duties and tasks include:

  • Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions
  • Analyze information required for the development or update of policy, procedure and form documentation
  • Review, copy, edit content developed by other members of the team
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to produce software designs and ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed. Determine functional and non-functional requirements for new or upgraded software applications.
  • Present content in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
  • Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code both for the development team and End-User Population
  • Improves operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures
  • Protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues
  • Ability to understand previous solutions and rework/replace the solution with new technologies
  • Ensuring a required level of performance
  • Analyzing requirements and designing new functionality
Requirements:
  • Experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Writer working on documentation used for software development projects.
  • Experience creating project documentation for software projects and the documentation from meetings including scribing or taking notes of the minutes or discussions for project meetings and project communications, and distributing to the correct team members in distribution lists
  • Fluency in technical and common Microsoft Office software applications and tools for documentation and publishing content online, on web pages
  • Ability to pay attention to details, and write well thought out content, in an easy-to-understand fashion, and for a wide variety of audience or readers
  • Knowledge of the requirements gathering, functional specifications writing, work flows, requirements analysis, documentation of new functionality for software applications to perform.
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience: Experience with software development lifecycle, user stories, use cases, functional specifications, technical specifications writing, technical documentation. An understanding of Adobe suite, MS Office Suite, TFS, Team Foundation Server inside of Azure DevOps, basic wireframing or Wireframes are big plus, (HTML/HTML5, Javascript, and CSS3, cascading style sheets, hyper text markup language, basic idea of web design, and content publication online/on the web/intranet, wikis or similar), Project documentation for software projects including Software Configuration Management (SCM), change control, revision control. Experience using relevant tool suites Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Creative problem-solving skills Strong team building skills

Employment Type: Contract, long-term

Hourly Rate: 45.00 52.00 per hour W-2

Location: Dallas, Texas (North Dallas, Addison area)This team works collaboratively in-person, at the office in North Dallas near Addison. This is not a remote work position.
