AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Tunnel Resident Engineer for construction inspection services to oversee the construction of new tunnels in Austin, Texas. The job is on-site and full-time.Job ResponsibilitiesThe Tunnel Resident Engineer is a full-time on-site role. The Tunnel Resident Engineer will be responsible for conducting routine inspections of civil infrastructure, identifying defects and potential hazards, and documenting contract compliance. The Tunnel Resident Engineer will also be responsible for producing detailed reports and communicating findings to management. The Tunnel Resident Engineer will have the primary responsibility for assuring quality of the construction.Additional responsibilities include:Observes Contractor’s construction activitiesAccepts work completed in compliance with contract documents, rejects defective work, maintains log of rejected work, assists with resolution of construction issuesCoordinates with Contractor to identify upcoming work; verifies upcoming work against issued look ahead schedulesSupervises project engineers for near surface and tunnelling workReviews contract requirements, submittals, shop drawings, and other associated documentationCommunicates daily with AECOM’s Project Manager and Contractor's field team in execution of their dutiesTracks progress of work in field. Monitors Contractor’s adherence to schedule and provides input on Contractor’s payment requestsInspects work for conformance with contract documents, approved change orders, clarifications, etc.; identifies and reports all nonconforming work; documents all work with daily reports, photos and videosTracks and verifies Contractor time and material or force account work.Conducts inspections to ensure that the work is performed in compliance with the contract documents.Ensures delivered materials comply with approved submittals, TxDOT standards and is the correct product from approved vendorsObserves and approves Contractor’s testing and QA/QC activitiesSchedules and monitors AECOM quality assurance testing of materialsMaintains necessary project documentation, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports and logs.Prepares other required field documentation as necessaryProvides input for construction changes. Assist with preparation and negotiation of field orders and change ordersTracking quantities installed on daily basis and prepare T&M reports as appropriateObserves implementation of health and safety procedures and practices.Verifies Contractor maintenance of As-Built drawings; confirm with Contractor that this is being carried out; review look-ahead schedules. Verification that work is in accordance with the approved shop drawing and sample Submittals
