Commercial/Industrial Painter

Location: Houston, TX

Job Type: Full-time. Temp to Hire

Pay: $20-22 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week and overtime

Job Description:

As a painter, you would be responsible for evaluating project areas to determine the appropriate methods and materials needed for the job. Your tasks would include removing old paint, covering floors to prevent spills, selecting paint types, and using fillers like putty and plaster to repair cracks. Additionally, you would need to cover exposed objects and surfaces to protect them from paint splatters and maintain inventory and equipment. Throughout the job, it's important to keep the workspace and tools clean to maintain a professional and organized environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform painting tasks, including preparing surfaces, mixing paints, and applying paint, varnish, and other finishes to various surfaces.

· Collaborate with the facilities team to ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.

· Follow hospital safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

· Inspect hospital areas regularly to identify and address maintenance needs.

· Maintain accurate records of materials used, time spent, and tasks completed.

· Assist with other maintenance tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

· Proven experience as a painter, preferably in a healthcare setting.

· Knowledge of infection control procedures and practices in a maintenance environment.

· Strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials.

· Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

· Valid driver’s license

Working Conditions:

· Work in commercial and industrial settings.

· May require standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, and carrying heavy materials.

· Exposure to paint fumes, solvents, and other chemicals, requiring the use of protective equipment.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.

· Ability to work in high places and in tight spaces.

· Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.

· Good physical condition and the ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Completion of a vocational or technical program in painting or a related field.

· Minimum of 1 year of experience in painting.
