The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 18 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 12 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.What you will do in this role:

Utilizing food production sheets, prepares food products in accordance with standards.

Maintains equipment and work areas in a sanitary and safe condition.

Follows standardized recipes accurately in preparing all food products.

Utilizes principles of infection control and sanitation in the preparation, serving, and storage of food products.

Utilizes basic mathematical calculations accurately in preparing food and figuring food cost per portion.

Communicates effectively verbally and in writing to fulfill position responsibilities.

Maintains own professional growth through appropriate inservice programs and other related education.

In collaboration with the Manager, the cook II establishes priorities for activities based on work demand.

Actively participates in Hospital and Departmental committees and group meetings with a focus on providing input regarding improving the quality of services in the facility.

Follows appropriate procedure for opening and closing kitchen operations. Ensures that problems or concerns regarding the Nutritional Services Department and other related areas are communicated with the Manager & Director.What qualifications you will need:Previous experience in hospital food service preferred.

Must be able to read and interpret standardized recipes and perform basic mathematical calculations. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively. Must have food handler’s permit.
