Apply today for our Coordinator Bariatric Services opportunity.Job Summary and QualificationsAs the Bariatric Surgery Coordinator, you will be responsible for daily operations and maintenance of the bariatric surgery program by coordinating the care of bariatric surgery patients and sustaining compliance in all Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) components. You will be responsible for patient education, staff education, physician communication and assistance, pathway facilitation, postoperative aftercare and outcome management. You will be required to collect, track and submit reliable data through documentation and entry of 100% of metabolic and bariatric procedures performed at SDMC into MBSAQIP Data Registry. You will be responsible for adhering to all MBSAQIP quality standards. You will maintain and complete payer related certifications. You will host and lead bariatric patient facing seminars. You will assist bariatric departmental team in hosting and facilitating bariatric surgery support groups events and other community outreach.

You will maintain knowledge of bariatric surgery and how to work within a system to deliver multiple components of high-level comprehensive care

You will need to communicate effectively to provide patient and staff education in an organized, sensitive, and understandable manner

You will need to organize, prioritize and manage time efficiently

You will need to adapt quickly and positively to changes in work methods, information needs and restructuring in the delivery of healthcare services

You will need to recognize the variables such as age, race, nationality, culture, disease-causing vulnerabilities, socioeconomic factors that affect the patient population under their care

What qualifications you will need:

1-3 years’ experience in an acute care hospital setting

Minimum 1 year experience in a hospital surgery department or surgery clinic or with clinical research or medical records

Experience with program coordination and development - preferred

Associate’s Degree in Nursing

Bachelors of Science in Nursing or Master’s Degree - preferred

Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire

Basic Life Support required upon hire
