Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Cost Accountant in Houston, Texas. As a Cost Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and analyzing our company's financial data, with a focus on operational costs, cost standards, and profit maximization. This role will require you to work closely with other team members and upper management to ensure the smooth running of our financial operations.Responsibilities: Analyze and collect data related to the company's operational costs Set standard costs for manufactured goods Develop and analyze cost standards Perform account reconciliations regularly Prepare audit reports and present findings to management Recommend changes to company's processes and policies to reduce costs and maximize profit Advise executives and upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data Manage the company’s balance sheet and accounting books Support other company accountants with invoicing and capital expenditure Utilize Microsoft Excel and NetSuite for cost analysis and other accounting tasks. Requirements Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) processes and systems Experience with auditing, including internal and external audits Understanding of budget processes and ability to assist in budget planning and reviews Knowledge of cash activity tracking and reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for various accounting functions and analysis Strong analytical skills for cost analysis and reporting Familiarity with manufacturing costs and related accounting processes Experience with Manufacturing Cost Accounting, including cost standards and variances Proficiency in NetSuite or similar accounting software for managing and analyzing financial data.
