Only Candidates Local to Texas Need Apply Our client is looking for an experienced Data Analytics Program Manager to oversee the strategic development and utilization of electric utility grid data.

Our client is hiring for a seasoned data science manager who can take their direct experience building a data science team from the ground up and apply it to our client’s organization. As the grid becomes infused with more and more technology, the volumes of data that come along with that technology can be leveraged in a myriad of diagnostic, descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned data science practitioner with a background in developing and managing programs; displays an analytical mindset with problem-solving skills; a strong understanding and background in best practices surrounding data storage, data mapping, systems integration, and data analytics and visualization. This role will be both strategic and hands on, and the successful candidate will be responsible for building a sustainable, operational data analytics program. Ultimately staffed with data analysts, in the immediate future the program manager will also provide deep dive data analytics as needed, working with subject matter experts and analysts across multiple utility departments who report to other operational business units.

Responsibilities include:
  • Establish a new Grid Analytics Program to oversee the utility's Grid Analytics Strategy, including program charter(s), data cataloging, business continuity, resource and budgetary planning, among other program development activities.
  • Provide detail analytics and data visualizations to support regular reporting (dashboard creation, scheduled reports, etc.) while also providing mission critical ad hoc analysis.
  • Establish and enforce Grid Data Governance policies and procedures for Austin Energy's Electric Systems Engineering and Technical Services Division, operating within the governance structure predefined by the utility.
  • Catalog all Grid Data Sources, Integrations, Systems and Applications.
  • Establish enterprise architecture and integration guidelines to maximize the efficiency and speed with which data is collected and used.
  • Train existing and future data analysts and engineers on programming techniques, best practices and utilization of data tools.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, applications and architectures
  • Collaborate with utility and City-wide data analytics teams.
  • Respond to requests for analytic support by operations managers and executive leadership, as determined by Advanced Grid Technology program managers.
  • Project Management, including but not limited to: Review of current electric utility reliability metrics and creation of centralized dashboard for use by operations team and executive leadership; Implementation of grid data warehouse; Use case development, procurement, implementation to installation of new utility data analytic applications for use by operations team; and other projects as assigned.
