- Manage all onsite data center physical infrastructure, and under minimal supervision, performs installation and maintenance for critical infrastructure components in a production environment. This is to include all physical hardware and cabling installations.
- Assist in the implementation, configuration, and operation of the data centers servers, networks, storage and structured cabling systems.
- Coordinate datacenter colocation maintenances and communicate with relevant teams.
- Track capacity and inventories for power, relay racks & cabinets, and floor space.
- Create, update and maintain HP Service Manager CMDB CI records for asset tracking and valid hardware configuration information for all data center CI’s.
- Create, update and maintain Sunbird DCIM Asset records for tracking and valid hardware configuration information for all data centers.
- Identify and troubleshoot simple hardware failures on x86-based servers and networking devices to include the replacement of failed hardware components.
- Creating and reviewing documentation for processes and best practices.
- Interact with the business and other IT teams to answer questions, resolve problems and address requests with a superior level of technical support.
- Be a creative thinker and problem solver, have an entrepreneurial mindset, and approach internal business customers from a consulting perspective.
- Must have 6+ years supporting a global enterprise network across data centers, LAN and WAN environment and technologies.
- Prior hands on datacenter experience in data center operation role/s.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting network and server hardware.
- Full understanding of data center cabling standards and implementation practices.
- Experience with data center space planning, server rack layouts, structured cabling and Visio drawings.
- Strong understanding of HP, Dell, Sun and IBM etc. standalone servers, enclosures, and blade systems.
- Hands-on experience with x86 architecture-based systems.
- Must have excellent time management, be self-motivated and able to operate with minimal supervision.
- Experienced in architecting and orchestrating the movement of data center equipment.
- Must possess the ability to identify issues in the environment and efficiently communicate the issues with the responsible response teams and management.
- Able to succeed and integrate into a fast-paced environment in a highly collaborative manner.
- Must be able to speak and write English at a professional and technically proficient level, including understanding of good documentation practices.
- Must be capable of lifting and transporting computer related hardware up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to operate and work on top of ladders.
- Must be willing to be on-call and to working evenings and/or weekend hours when requested.
