Job Description: Position Summary

Seeking a Data Engineer to join our team and build the future of our Enterprise Insights & Discovery platform based on Microsoft Azure Data Lake and Azure Synapse Analytics. This data platform serves analytics needs of the enterprise. You will be responsible for building data collection, transformation, and processing pipeline automation to deliver Business Insights critical for success of these functions.

As a Data Engineer, you should be an expert with data warehousing components (e.g. Data Modeling, ELT and Reporting) and integrations. You should have a deep understanding of the architecture for enterprise level data warehouse solutions using multiple platforms. You should be an expert in the design, creation, management of large datasets, excellent business, and communication skills

This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage data engineering projects through completion
  • Implement end-to-end data analytics solutions (from data ingestion through visualization) for large-scale, complex client environments.
  • Perform data modeling to meet the business requirements and approved data architecture
  • Continually improve processes through automating or simplifying self-service support for datasets
  • Utilize data preparation, integration, storage & analytics tools within the Azure landscape
  • Partner with business unit IT teams to gather, and document analytics solution requirements.
  • Monitor, manage and administer the Enterprise Insights & Discovery Data Warehouse and ensure optimal performance at scale.
  • Document and provide solution options and recommendations for analytics solutions
  • Collaborate and partner with cloud service providers, data science, data governance and other IT and business teams in the process of delivering analytics solutions
  • Maintain and develop professional and technical knowledge by availing internal and external training courses, participating in seminars, webinars, obtaining certifications as well as being aware of industry trends
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, data security, analysis, validation, and documentation.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in building data pipelines, data models and maintaining/supporting enterprise data warehouse solutions
  • Microsoft Azure certifications in various analytics technologies is a plus
  • Working knowledge/familiarity with Oil & Gas industry processes is a plus
  • Expertise in developing and deploying analytics solutions within Microsoft Azure (Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse and Synapse Pipelines).
  • Strong SQL experience, data modeling, data warehouse and OLAP concepts.
  • Batch data ingestion (ETL, ELT) experience desired.
  • Working experience in visualization tools such as SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence, Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau desired.
Skills
  • Cloud platform certifications are a plus, e.g., Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, Agile, Scrum, and ITIL is a plus.
