Job Summary:
The Data Warehouse SQL Engineer is responsible for consuming data from variety of data sources by writing efficient ETL code, storing data into operational data store and finally transform this data and write SQL views for final customer consumption. Our client operates a large web application written in ASP.Net, and supported by multiple SQL Databases, some of which are over 500 GB in size. As a member of the Product Development team, the Data Warehouse SQL Engineer will be exposed to hands on development of data warehouse and data marts related tasks using SQL & Python code.

1.0 Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesSpecific duties and responsibilities include:
  • Create complex queries on large data sets
  • Create stored procedures, triggers, and functions
  • Generate code to extract, transform and load data
  • Performance tuning of queries
  • Develop and design database objects, such as tables, indexes, constraints, etc.
  • Analyze query execution plans and optimize database code
  • Development of data structures & XML parsing using Python
  • Be able to work with development, QA, business teams and at times directly with customers
  • Research and develop new ways to improve existing functionality
  • Proactively analyze and bring forth ideas for continuous improvement
  • Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program to conform to ISO 9001 situations that present a potential security risk to the ISO Team, Management or their Supervisor
  • All employees have a professional duty to provide any information related to security issues, incidents or Other tasks and projects as directed by management

2.0 Requirements2.1 Education and Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited university and/or equivalent work experience

2.2 Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server Fundamentals
  • Extensive knowledge of T-SQL; writing complex queries, stored procedures and functions
  • Knowledge of web development (ASP.NET web forms, MVC, C# or .Net Core a plus)
  • Thorough understanding of database modeling
  • Understanding of cloud development with Azure services a plus
  • Strong knowledge and experience with database design, performance tuning, query optimization, indexes, data migration tools, and data analysis
  • Experience working with Python integrated development environments
  • Experience in consuming APIs as a data source and using Postman (or similar) tool is a plus
  • Some exposure to Azure SQL and other Azure data tools like Data Factory, Apache Spark and Synapse
  • Recognized quality work from previous projects
  • Demonstrate personal initiativeSolid analytical and problem solving ability
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Desire to assume increasing levels of leadership responsibility
