AgriSompo is seeking
Application DBAs to maintain and enhance our custom-built crop insurance application. The system, called AgriNet, is considered one of the leading crop insurance applications in the industry. It supports all of the insurance functions including policy administration, quoting/rating, GIS mapping of cropland, claims, accounting, reporting and transmission of data to the U.S. Government. We have approximately 3,000 Agents and 900 employees using the system to support approximately 80k policy holders and 90m acres of farmland.Duties and Responsibilities- The application DBA role involves logical database design, reporting and the ongoing support and administration of databases pertaining to AgriSompo’s business applications.
- The application DBA is responsible for writing and debugging complex SQL and understands the best ways to incorporate database requests into application programs.
- The Application DBA is deeply involved in requirements definition, design, development, deployment, maintenance and enhancement of applications working as part of the Application Development team, with specific focus on databases.
- Responsible for change management and performance tuning of the database landscape.
- The position will play a primary role in multiple projects including the modernization of the core Crop Insurance Application platform.
- Work with Technical Leads and Senior Engineers in defining, designing, building, managing, and maintaining technical solutions in accordance with the IT SDLC processes, standards and best practices.
- Ensure that functional and non-functional requirements are clearly understood, designed against, tested and documented for performing, reliable, scalable, portable and highly available applications
- Manage enhancements and the resolution of incidents in accordance with IT service delivery and support principles.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or similar
- Minimum five years of professional experience as a SQL Server Application DBA with MS SQL Server 2012 and up
- Configuration and deployment experience for SSIS, SSRS and SSAS in online and data warehouse environments
- Strong knowledge of reporting services; Microsoft Reporting Services
- Strong knowledge of database design principles, database logical and physical design
- Highly competent in SQL database performance tuning, creation of right indexing strategy to meet data growth needs and performance monitoring and query optimization
- Strong SQL skills to provide code review and tuning feedback to the development team
- Strong knowledge of database administration, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and systems analysis procedures
- Experience in application development tools (e.g. GIT, Visual Studio/Azure DevOps and source control), testing, and process and configuration management
- Effectively communicates and documents technical architecture and solutions to internal peer groups as well as other groups
- A team player with solid communication skills, excellent at problem solving, troubleshooting, and embracing new challenges
- Positive attitude and the ability to remain flexible in a dynamic environment
- Ability to manage time across multiple, simultaneous projects
- Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a member of a team, as well as the maturity to work independently.
