Description We are offering a position for a Director of Accounting in Austin, Texas who is experienced and skilled in various technical accounting functions and systems. The role is set in the higher education industry. The employment type for this role is contract. Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes Implement and manage all accounting operations based on accounting principles Prepare budget forecasts and organize financial reporting systems Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions Use accounting software to maintain accurate financial records and reports Manage and assist with the year-end closing process and the audit process Implement and manage Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for better business intelligence and workflow management Oversee the management of government grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with all government regulations Develop and implement strategies to manage organizational change during system implementations Maintain knowledge of GAAP Accounting and federal government contracts. Please note, it is essential for the candidate to possess strong technical accounting skills, and familiarity with auditing, budget processes, and system implementations. They should also have a strong understanding of government agencies and programs, government audits, and fund accounting. Requirements Proven expertise in Accounting Software Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Proficient in using ADP - Financial Services and Concur software Knowledgeable about DCAA requirements and practices Strong understanding of accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Solid experience in auditing, budget processes and year-end closings Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent qualification is preferred Advanced knowledge in technical accounting and GAAP Accounting Experience in organizational change management and system implementation Familiarity with federal government contracts, government agencies & programs, government audits, and government grants Experience in fund accounting, preferably in the non-profit sector Excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
