Director – Bariatric Services

HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast has been serving the needs of Southeast Harris County for 55 years. It offers 364 licensed beds, a NICU, an Advanced Wound Care Center, and a full complement of hospital services.

HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

What you will do in this role:

The Director of Bariatric Services shares 24-hour responsibility for administering all aspects of the bariatric program. The Bariatric Service Line Director ensures compliance withregulatory requirements and standards that may be required by local, state, and federal agencies.

• Serves as the liaison between the hospital and physician practices.
• Collaborates with the Bariatric Medical Director on growth and quality initiatives.
• Organizes patient seminars, outreach initiatives, and post-surgical patient support groups.
• Establishes productive working relationships with businesses and/or insurance companies to provide knowledge regarding bariatric surgery, and establishes possible contracts and/or Centers of Excellence designations
• Responsible for maintaining required manuals and current policies and procedures as well as identifying and implementing performance improvement initiatives.
• Assists in the coordination of patient appointments and other operational processes related to the bariatric program.
• Facilitates/leads the hospital bariatric program steering committee and patient selection committee.
• Participates in interdepartmental meetings and process teams to improve patient care and outcomes.

Qualifications

What qualification you will need:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Clinical Nutrition required
• Masters degree required or within 24 months of hire
• Candidates must be licensed in the State of Texas or willing to pursue licensure
• Three (3) years clinical Med Surg experience preferably Bariatric patients or two to three (2-3) years as a clinical dietician, bariatric setting preferred
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
