This role serves as the owner of Sysco's sustainability initiatives relating to merchandising, and drives progress by coordinating with other internal teams to facilitate supplier engagement on sustainability topics. This role will be responsible for defining the supplier engagement strategy and driving the implementation to promote supplier participation in and adoption of Sysco's sustainability agenda.Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive overall supplier sustainability engagement strategy and process by coordinating with category/sourcing teams to determine appropriate timing of supplier conversations and engagement, coordinating with CSR team to ensure program is tracking towards short term and overall targets
Coordinates overall program and stands up governance by establishing and executing an internal meeting cadence with relevant stakeholders, and sets in place the appropriate reporting structure for the working teams
Partner with the communications team to develop and execute 6 month supplier communications plans by determining the relevant content, cadence, method, and suppliers to engage
Analyze commitment progress across the supplier base, along with trends per product category over time, assessing risks and identifying alternative paths to reach sustainability goals
Organize, develop, and distribute resources such as trainings, webinars, guides, etc. to facilitate supplier education on sustainability topics
Work with IT to select and implement supporting tools to track, report, and accelerate targets
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Agriculture, related fields
Education Preferred:
Advanced Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Agriculture, related fieldsExperience Required:
6-8+ years of supply chain and/or sustainability experience, with a focus on designing & leading sustainability programs or initiatives
Experience in project management and leading teams
Familiarity with GHG protocol, and related reporting and disclosure standards (GRI, TCFD, CDP, SASB)
Familiarity with SBTi standards, including Scope 3 requirements
Expertise in carbon accounting methods
Experience Preferred:
Developing supplier-facing programs and communications
Previous employment with a food distributor, retailer, or CPG
Technical Skills and Abilities:
Strong project leadership and management background, ability to influence and orchestrate at a program level, drive progress, address roadblocks, and determine next steps
Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and presentation skills
Self-starter with a strong ability to lead and develop a new team
Ability to facilitate cross-functional coordination
Strong grasp of GHG protocol, reporting and disclosure standards
Understanding of evolving SBTi standards, and what that means for Sysco's supplier base
Understanding of carbon accounting methodology and best practices
