Job Description

Warehouse lead functions should befollowed in accordance to Department Goals and local procedures and guidelines, contributing to the success of the Distribution department by striving to reach company and branch goals, ensuring maximum customer service, compliance with company policies, and continued business growth.

Reporting:

Reports directly to Operations Supervisor

  1. First Escalations: Operations Supervisor

  2. Second Escalations: Operations Manager

  3. Third Escalation: Distribution Manager

Health and Safety, Security:

Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assists in maintaining warehouse security as per Expeditors’ requirements. Conducts operations in a manner that promotes safety and in accordance with OSHA and other appropriate standards. Must plan and construct a used maintained workplace environment to protect any person from danger. The warehouse lead is responsible to make sure the following tasks are met without exceptions:

Daily Huddles at the start of the shift – All meetings need to be documented and signed by the participating employees.

Warehouse appearance – Lead must constantly walk the facility and report any possible hazards on the building.

Forklift Checklist: Lead is responsible to make sure all Forklifts are inspected daily at the beginning of their shift, if any hazards the unit must be tagged and reported for service.

Dispatched SOP Lead is responsible to understand and enforce at all time the ““Shipping Receiving Dispatching SOP – REV 1.0”

Dress Code: Lead is responsible to ensure that everyone on the warehouse follows company policy. All employees need to use steel toe shoes and have a vest while working on the warehouse.

Incident Reporting – All hazard or security Incidents must be reported trough the Expeditors Health and Safety web portal. All reports must be submitted the same day the incident occurred.

Labor Management:

Applying communication and motivational techniques in leading, supervising and disciplining associates. Provides input into performance evaluation for recommending promotions, wage increases, associate development and terminations. Lead will be indirectly responsible for hiring and terminating employees on the floor while meeting headcount requirement established by warehouse lead, Distribution Supervisor or Distribution Ops Manager. Lead will create schedules for their teams ensuring there is coverage at all times. Scheduling will depending on volume of work. Depending on the volume, hours for employees will either increase or decrease and start and finish times of shifts will change. Lead is responsible for ensuring there is no overtime incurred by employees. Lead is responsible for ensuring there is no overtime incurred by employees. Lead is also responsible to ensure they have a “number 2” (a person who can run the operation on a lead absence) at all the time.

Operations:

Supervise the unloading of inbound shipments, making sure the 360 validation is being done properly.

Ensure freight that arrived damaged is marked on carrier documents, hold on system, pictures uploaded, and OSD created.

Verifies required inbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all products are properly counted and inspected. Organizes and prioritizes the inbound and outbound activities. Ensure and protect the long term sustainability and structure of the warehouse by properly training and developing personnel.

Receiving Lead is responsible to make sure processes established on SOP are followed. Need to supervise on a daily basis all associates are following the assigned instructions. Responsible of making sure all employees are properly trained before assigned to a task. All training records must be signed and documented.

Quality:

Ensures outbound shipments are complete and free of damage. Needs to promote a culture of housekeeping and appearance at the warehouse, following 7S philosophy.

It is part of your daily responsibility to ensure all product is properly stored. Need to look for any possible damages that could be caused to the Customer product, detecting the root cause and making the team accountable for any carelessness while handling freight.

Communication:

Attends warehouse’s planned meetings. Acts as a liaison between employees and management. Communicates industry and brand knowledge to associates. Issues written and oral instructions. Abides by the Expeditors International policy and procedures, and all security-related matters and enforces it on the employee level, and maintains a secure environment.

Qualifications

Education (preferred level) - Bachelors Degree

Experience (minimum level of direct experience in a similar position) - 1 Year

Knowledge/ Skills - Requires good supervisory and communication skills. Familiarity with personal computers and material handling equipment is essential. Strong decision-making and coaching skills

Experience:

PC, MS OS, MS Office Software - strong MS Excel skills required

Strong knowledge on Expeditors systems; Edoc, Expo, CFIT, Manhattan,

Customer Service skills to deal with branch personnel and external customers

Ability to work effectively across all levels of development, support and peers

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks to completion simultaneously.

Physical and System Inventory Controls experience

Distribution Experience it’s a must

Strong knowledge of Citrix and Glovia System.

Strong knowledge of SAP system.
