Job Summary: Successful candidate will be assigned to projects involving the electrical design, development, and production of medium and low voltage adjustable speed drives. The Electrical Design Engineer will utilize marketing specifications for new products, and support project and sales engineers in product applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with vendors and suppliers for product designs as well as focusing on profitability when designing and providing support to the plants.
  • Focus on interfacing with the vendors and supplier
  • Meet with vendors regarding new product design equipment and end-of-life partSource catalog components, EOL parts, support supplier for specialized partsFocus on interfacing with internal and external groups which may include visits with customers
  • Be familiar with industry standards and apply industry standards to design work
  • Focus on providing internal support to appropriate client groups.
  • Focus on running projects concerning design of product line, initiate design review process for product line, develop and check other employee's drawings, maintain meeting minutes
  • Create new product designs, modify existing products, prepare design documentation
  • Focus on giving support to the plants and manufacturing groups.
  • Design for cost savings and obtain material related to cost analysis and review cost analysis.
  • Design to applicable safety standards
  • Design product with high quality expectations that adhere to UL/ATL/ISO standards
  • Support on collaboration projects with headquarters in Japan
  • Gather data on market and competitors to run cost analysis regarding new technology
  • Contribute or create intellectual knowledge that could progress into a patent
  • Focus on performing analysis using software engineering tools
  • Be familiar with technology trends
  • Focus on profitability in all products
  • Learn to cross-discipline train with different groups
  • Participate with mentor groups in learning information
  • Compose a self-starter attitude by taking initiative in projects that will improve the business
  • Perform system level and detailed circuit design of power electronic circuits and associated control and interface circuits to meet the requirement of the engineering specification.
  • Conduct tests, analyze test data, and write test reports to record operating performance and provide data to support product compliance with customer or internal specifications and applicable third party standards.

Requirements:

  • BSEE or related discipline required.
  • 4-8 years' experience in power electronics design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2018 or above.
  • Experience with low and/or medium voltage design products.
  • Knowledge of magnetics very helpful.
  • Experience with application and specification of transformers, reactors, filters desired.
  • Strong organization and excellent time management skills.
  • Computer skills required, including Microsoft Office
  • Intermediate knowledge Cadence OrCAD Schematic Capture 17.2 and above is a plus.
