General DescriptionThe Endpoint Management Team Lead performs highly advanced and/or supervisory (senior-level) computer system analysis and implementation work. Work involves directing the planning, implementation, budgeting, and analysis of system requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing endpoint management systems and procedures. Hands-on work in solving the hardest problems, building high quality, architecturally sounds systems that are aligned with business needs. Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgment. May plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.

Duties and Responsibilities

Solutions Engineer – 35%
  • Analyzes the agency’s enterprise technology needs and recommends solutions.
  • Applies principles of Site Reliability, Continuous Life Cycle Integration including Planning, Development, Testing, Release/Deployment, and Monitoring/Operations.
  • Assists with developing policies, procedures, and standards for installing, configuring, and supporting all customer facing endpoints.
  • Assists with the development of information technology strategy and plans.
  • Conducts product evaluations of new software and upgrades to existing software to identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential benefits to the agency.
  • Develops high-level program to ensure software is kept up-to-date and to address the gaps between current and future state.
  • Defines metrics to measure and demonstrate business value.
  • Defines the requirements and models to help guide technology decisions.
  • Leads enterprise level technology adoption, operationalization and enhancements resulting in the successful development, implementation, and deployment of all customer facing endpoints.
  • Provides Endpoint support focusing in areas such as Microsoft Windows 10, SCCM/SECM, Active Directory, Group Policy, and third-party Enterprise Applications.

System Support & Maintenance – 35%
  • Analyzes and diagnoses infrastructure problems related to application, server, and virtualization resources.
  • Assists in performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of application resources.
  • Automates processes and integrations across multiple technologies, primarily using Windows PowerShell.
  • Collaborates with other agency staff to maintain application and network security.
  • Monitors applications to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and system availability.
  • Oversees the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of a large Microsoft based enterprise environment.

Project Management – 25%
  • Assists in supervising staff assigned to projects, including planning, assigning work, and providing input for hiring and performance evaluations.
  • Compiles and analyzes data, and prepares, presents, and/or distributes routine and ad hoc project management reports to agency management.
  • Leads or participates on related special projects and committees as assigned.
  • Provides oversight and direction for the Client Services and IT related projects.
  • Provides training, technical assistance, and advice to staff on Endpoint Management and implementation as well as project management issues, policies, practices, processes, and systems.
Performs related work as assigned – 5 %

Minimum Required QualificationsEducation:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
OR
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and additional related full-time experience may substitute for the required education on an equivalent year for year basis.

Experience:
  • Ten (10) years of full-time experience managing medium to large application and/or server environments, including experience managing large infrastructure projects in a complex Microsoft/Cisco/Intel environment.

Registration, Certification, or Licensure:
  • None

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in workstation/endpoint design and support for Microsoft Enterprise applications.
  • Experience in SCCM/SECM and software packaging.
  • Experience with McAfee and BitLocker encryption.

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of:
  • The practices, principles, and techniques of core infrastructure for support of the application stack using automation with monitoring and network operations.
  • Technologies such as Microsoft Windows Active Directory and Server, PowerShell, Office 365, Azure, and desired state configuration tools.
  • Current hardware and software architectures, network protocols, and security best practices.
  • Project portfolio management principles and practices and project management software tools.
Skill in:
  • Analyzing routine problems and developing workable solutions.
  • Communicating technical information to people of all levels of technical knowledge.
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating work to effectively meet frequent and/or multiple deadlines; handling multiple tasks simultaneously; and managing conflicting priorities and demands.
  • Implementing Configuration Management and Orchestration tools.
  • Developing automated solutions for manual processes.
  • Leading project teams and organizing and motivating staff to meet project goals and objectives.
  • Conducting research, consolidating findings, and utilizing the knowledge to create or adapt processes and procedures based on best practices.
