- Communicate with customers regarding equipment performance issues, time required to repair, etc.
- Train customer personnel in operation and maintenance of equipment
- Observe and listen to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble.
- Set up and conduct tests under operational conditions to correct or improve performance and other factors.
- Plan work procedure
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Perform on-site welding and fabricating where required.
- Repair, rebuild or replace defective parts.
- Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Lubricate and clean parts.
- Start devices to test their performance.
- Order parts for machines when required.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems.
- Coordinate repairs in accordance with policies, principles and procedures established by company and/or supervisor.
- Maintain good customer relations and expends every effort to increase market share; visits customer job sites and facilities to promote good customer relations and foster positive relationships.
- Assist customers by phone with technical problems and works with Parts Department to ship necessary parts to customers in a timely manner.
- Write complete and accurate service reports and submits to service department.
- Assist with and attends trade shows as needed.
- Always keep a clean, well-maintained and safe vehicle
- Submit weekly expense and service reports every week before 8:00 am Monday morning of the following week.

- Document assigned tasks as required.
- Perform work according to supervisor's directives when requested.

- Wear personal protective equipment as required by company, customers and/or state DOTs.
- Clean work area daily
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of heavy construction equipment
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical background
- Engineering drawing and schematic reading and interpretation skills
- Welding and hydraulic and pneumatic experience preferred.
- Experience in the asphalt industry, field of heavy roadbuilding and/or construction machinery industry preferred.
- Ability to work satisfactorily as a team member.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent customer-relations skills
- Ability to operate or be trained to operate heavy roadbuilding equipment.
- Ability to conduct occasional customer demonstrations of roadbuilding machinery within six (6) months of employment.
- Ability to handle sudden changes in project/priority and multiple tasks simultaneously in a positive fashion.
- Ability to set, adjust and change daily priorities.
- Ability to manage conflict and resolve issues in the most positive fashion for all parties concerned.
- Ability to identify problems or potential problems at the functional level and make recommendations and/or decisions to resolve them.
- Good organization and time-management skills
- Willingness to accept responsibility and take on new challenges.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on a customary and regular basis.
- Willingness to train in Chattanooga, Tennessee with expenses being paid during training.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to a region of the US convenient to the service coverage area at his/her expense after training if required.
- Flexibility to work additional hours when required.
- Extensive travel (one to two weeks or more at a time including some weekends)
- Willingness to travel within the US and abroad as needed.
- Required to visit road construction sites.
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
