As part of this role, the Cybersecurity Engineering lead will oversee the delivery of critical compliance functions including but not limited to the firewall and proxy rule review and remediation program, security consulting services, and configuration management functions to ensure adherence to network and information security baselines. Viewed as a technical leader and subject matter expert, this role will manage the governance, compliance, process development and reporting of these functions while working with a larger team and 3rd party partners to deliver effectively and on time. The ability to manage and coordinate complex technical processes and communicate across different levels of the organization including technical, managerial, business executives, and vendors will be key elements of success.

Directs, manages, plans and administers the operational and administrative activities of the Systems Engineering section. Supports multiple systems through maintenance, modification, problem resolution, etc. to support ongoing delivery of services and/or operations. Manages multiple applications/development projects, or single major complex initiatives if a small area of the development function. Coordinates resources across various applications, operations or projects. Responsible for staffing, performance management and compensation decision-making. Manages budget, monitors progress and adjusts resources and priorities accordingly. Provides input on policy issues. Typically 7-10 years of experience in managing and directing multi-project development teams

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the delivery of network cybersecurity functions and services within the Perimeter Security and Threat Prevention technical domains which include firewall, web content filtering and inspection, proxy, and intrusion detection (IDS/IPS) technologies.
  • Support compliance functions including the firewall and proxy rule review and entitlements program, configuration management function, and supporting internal and external audits in partnership with Information Security and Architecture teams to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Global Information Security, Architecture & Engineering teams in the review and adoption of compliance requirements and standards.
  • Develop, document and maintain processes and procedures in support of the rule review and remediation program, entitlement and compliance functions, and security services consulting.
  • Maintain governance and oversight weekly and monthly routines and reporting to ensure successful outcomes and compliance with deadlines.
  • Assign and oversee the daily tasks of technical personnel to ensure all resources are actively working towards established deliverables.
  • Lead automation efforts in coordination with the automation teams and 3rd party vendors to eliminate manual effort, reduce risk and improve turnaround timeframes.
  • Coaches and develops the team to achieve collective goals and objectives.

Required Skills:
  • Extensive technical leadership experience within the network security, cyber security, or networking areas
  • Strong subject matter expertise in at least one of the following technologies (in order of desirability):
  • Network firewalls (preferably Fortinet, Juniper and/or Checkpoint platforms)
  • Proxy and Web Content Filtering (preferably McAfee Web Gateway or Bluecoat platforms)
  • Excellent oral and written communication - must be able to communicate at all organizational levels. Strong communication skills to work with senior management to provide status updates, deliver requirements and report details at correct level
  • Understanding of ITIL request, change, incident, and problem management processes and best practices.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental networking concepts and protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL, DNS, NTP, DHCP, basic routing/switching protocols, load balancing, 802.1X, authentication protocols, etc.
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering or equivalent professional degree and 10+ years of proven experience

  • Experience managing network or network security compliance, risk functions and/or audits
  • Leadership skills and leading a group of people
  • Ability to analyze complex processes applying analytical thinking and methodical processes that require in-depth analysis and evaluation of various factors and criteria
  • Ability to lead multiple strategic projects and initiatives providing technical direction and expertise and owning various deliverables throughout the project lifecycle
  • Good understanding of firewall and/or proxy access policies and rules, including access lists, NATs, object groups, policy layers, authentication, etc.
  • Experience with firewall or proxy management tools such as Firemon, Skybox, Splunk, etc
  • CISSP, CCSP, Security+ or similar technical certifications
