This position is for a highly motivated and passionate about space exploration, who is ready to step into be part of the Gateway Program as a Systems Engineer. The Gateway, a vital component of NASA’s Artemis program, will serve as a multi-purpose outpost orbiting the Moon that provides essential support for long-term human return to the lunar surface and serves as a staging point for deep space exploration. NASA is working with commercial and international partners to establish the Gateway. Specifically, we are looking to augment our Gateway Avionic SE&I team with your talent and energy. This role requires a candidate with a positive attitude and good interpersonal collaboration skills. Responsibilities include:

  • Work with NASA and International partners to evaluate proposed solutions, analyze requirements and verification
  • Perform Insight and Oversite function with various Gateway providers for Avionics functions
  • Work in a team environment and provide reports to the team lead and NASA customer to provide status on progress and issues
  • Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Travel for Program reviews and to contractor facilities
Required:
  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of related experience
  • Broad understanding across Systems Engineering Disciplines specifically Systems Engineering and Integration, Requirements Development, Test Operations, Assembly and Integration, and Test and Verification
  • Experience with large system Verification and Validation planning and execution for aerospace systems.
  • Strong communications and negotiation skills
  • Experience with the NASA Systems Development Lifecycle, Life Cycle Reviews, and associated products
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases as well as typical systems engineering products
  • Experience with systems engineering toolsets, including MBSE
  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification
Citizenship or lawful permanent resident required due to federal position.
