The next cohort will begin on October 9, 2023 .Integrated into a Hospital’s education structure, the Texas Health Graduate Nurse Residency Program includes a guided clinical experience with an instructor-led core curriculum, a formal mentoring program, informative debriefing/self-care sessions and supportive 360-degree evaluations. Residents not only participate in the learning experience on their personally selected home units, they also rotate/cross train through other departments to gain an expanded nursing experience vital to the complex patient care.The Texas Health Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive, evidence based on-boarding program with a 15-month employment commitment that offers new graduate nurses an exciting opportunity to gain the experience, judgment, skills and confidence to successfully navigate the complexity of hospital life.Where you will be working: Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth; 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth,Texas 76104 Work environment: Neurosurgical Med Surgo Justin Tower 8th floor is a 36-bed neurosurgical unit located in the newly opened state of the art Justin Tower.It serves as the primary inpatient unit for three disease specific programs at Texas Health Fort Worth (THFW) certified by the Joint Commission (TJC).  In addition to our spine surgery program, and the only TJC certified brain tumor program in Texas, THFW recently received the first in the nation TJC certification for neurotrauma.These programs are supported by a neuroscience nurse practitioner who provides education for patients and their families, as well as education and updates for the staff.  Each of these programs also has it’s own committee, along with an overall neuroscience committee, in which participation is encouraged.Our primary patient population is post-operative elective spine surgery, but we also care for pre- and non-operative patients.  Justin 8 also functions as a secondary unit for THFW’s TJC certified stoke program, most often caring for hemorrhagic strokes.We have a 1:4 nurse to patient ratio, with a free charge nurse and multiple patient care technicians (PCTs) on every shift.   Our unit based council (UBC) meets monthly, both in-person and online.
