Management of Infection Preventionist TeamUnder the direction of the Director, Infection Control and the Chief Infection Control Officer, accountable for the individual IP team's growth and development through appropriately challenging assignments and program management.Assists the Director with creating inter-departmental goals and is accountable for the team's performance in reaching those goals.Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the IP team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Conduct supervisory and management activities (i.e., budgeting, timekeeping), staff evaluation, and coaching sessions in accordance with Just Culture, High-Reliability Organizational Principles, and all applicable institutional policies.Monitor, guide, and support the IP team in designing and delivering education, create reports and deliver presentations to maintain accurate records, summarize and highlight departmental activities.Guidance of Infection Control PracticesActively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.Assists with setting institutional priorities and goals in consultation with senior management.Assist with developing and enforcing policies and procedures for Infection Prevention and Control activities in alignment with regulatory standards and infection control guidelines.Serve as liaison to regulatory agencies, city, county, and state health departments under the direction of the Infection Control Director.Ensure timely reporting, identify barriers to implementation and support operational teams across the institution to enhance infection prevention practices.Execution of Preventive MeasuresParticipate in developing departmental strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives, integrating proactive measures to address emerging challenges and regulatory changes.Role model compassionate communication, personal and professional growth and development.Promote problem-solving, conflict resolution, and a psychologically safe environment among the team.Maintain certification requirements and participate in professional associations ( i.e. APIC, SHEA, AAMI, HSPA, etc.)Utilize performance improvement methodologies and High-Reliability Organization Principles to enact change, identify opportunities to standardize processes and optimize infection control practices.Collaborate with and involve institutional, multidisciplinary teams, medical staff and leaders to integrate evidence-based practices into policies, guidelines, protocols and educational strategies.Bachelor's degree in Healthcare related field. Seven years of patient care experience or healthcare agency to include three years in a supervisory/management level position in infection prevention and control. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.License/certification required:One of the following:Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).Medical Technologist (MT) or Microbiologist (M) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist Board of Certification (BOC).Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist Board of Certification (BOC).Certified in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection ControlMust pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
