Information Security Engineer

• Configure and set up firewalls and intrusion detection systems
• Respond to network intrusions and be familiar with performing forensic investigation
• Test new or upgraded hardware and software and implement new technologies
• Create test plans which will allow for a proper evaluation of security issues for new hardware and software
• Identify security solutions and implement a multi-layered defense to protect the networks
• Serve as the point of contact and liaison between Client Managed Security Service Provider and Client
• Provide Tier 2 support for service desk
• Project Manager for projects as assigned
• Create and document procedures regarding Information Security standards within the organization
• Monitor the health and analyze performance of the Information Security environment
• Under minimal direction, perform basic analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance activities in various
• areas of IT, as needed
• Formulate and/or define scope and objectives of feasibility studies
• Proactively enforce security policies to ensure IT assets are protected
• Assist the IT Engineering Manager in the development of Best Security Operating Procedures, according to
• industry best common operating procedures
• On-call Rotation for 24/7 business operation

• 3+ years of Information Security technologies including design, configuration, and implementation in large enterprise environments
• Demonstrate sophisticated problem solving and organizational skills, as well as the ability to think critically and
• logically to effectively implement and maintain GVEC’s multi-use computer systems and networks
• Proven production service trouble-shooting skills that span applications, systems, and network
• Strong attention to detail with a predilection toward automating as much as feasible
• Consistently applies the concepts of appropriate standard methodologies and best practices
• Prepares reports, records progress and creates solutions to IT Security problems/issues
• Interfaces with suppliers and vendors as needed to evaluate software, hardware or services and makes recommendations

• Possess efficient vendor management and budgeting skills
• Experience with network technologies including VLANs, NATs, and Firewalls preferred
• College degree (BA or BS); technical degree preferred, or relevant experience
• NERC CIP Standards and Compliance
