In the absence of Laboratory Supervisor, guides and assists Medical Laboratory Scientists to answer questions regarding policy and procedures in the areas trained.
Provides oversight of training to assist in ensuring all personnel are trained.
Maintains and monitors inventory control system to assure effective use of reagents and supplies
Complies with and promotes safety guidelines and procedures and adherence to regulatory mandates.
Ensures laboratory meets quality and productivity standards. - Ensures adequate quality control methods are implemented according to standard and addresses quality control issues.
Is a subject matter expert.
Ensures supplies and equipment are ordered and maintained to meet laboratory needs.
Assists with data base testing and recommends modification to the database.
Ensures productivity is sufficient to meet time constraints established for current procedures and processes.
Continually explores process improvement and efficient operation opportunities.
Perform clinical lab assays, tests, and procedures as appropriate.
Coordinate new test/protocol development and oversee the development and maintenance of new policies and procedure documents.
Manages customer service interactions and relationships with diplomacy and professionalism.
Actively participates in training and orientation of new technicians to learn job duties and responsibilities

Other duties as assigned.Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology OR Bachelor's degree in a related science field OR successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Molecular Genetic Technology accredited program. With Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, ten years of clinical laboratory experience. With Bachelor's degree in a related science field, nine years of clinical laboratory experience. With completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Molecular Genetic Technology accredited program, eight years of clinical laboratory experience. With Master's degree, six years of clinical laboratory experience. With Doctorate degree, four years of clinical laboratory experience.
