The Manager Data Governance will lead in developing and implementing our data governance strategy as well as identify guidelines for utilizing our customer data. This includes understanding where customer data is stored in the various businesses, improving quality of data sets, and implementing governance around key data domains. You will develop and manage business-wide data governance activities as well as be responsible for improving and maintaining the integrity of data assets. The role focuses on creating, managing, and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework of data policies, standards, and practices, in order to achieve, supervise and maintain levels of data integrity which foster trust in the data and ensure that data assets continually fulfill business needs and create business benefit.Job Duties/Roles

  • Create and curate the organization's data governance knowledge and information assets, including the data catalogue, data glossary and detailed data standards
  • Facilitate the ongoing development, implementation, and business adoption of data quality standards
  • Ensure that data quality issues are logged, tracked, and remedied in a timely and effective manner
  • Serve as a liaison between the Security and Legal teams to ensure that data initiatives follow data protection laws
  • Develop a data governance strategy and roadmap and lead its implementation
  • Report on the integrity of client's data assets
  • Work with partners to ensure acceptance and sponsorship for data governance policy
  • Supervise the use of tools and technologies involved in data governance procedures to ensure their ongoing performance and cost-effectiveness
  • Maintain a data governance organization structure, which is effective in upholding data governance policy and performing data governance processes
  • Partner with people in other data governance roles such as data analysts, data scientists, and data owners
  • Define data performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles, and responsibilities
  • Conduct data validation and reconciliation processes following completion of data movement.
  • Perform data quality audits around inconsistent data, incomplete data, business rule violations, incorrect data, etc.
  • Perform data profiling and cleansing techniques to maintain consistent accurate information.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to streamline all master and transactional data processes and entries. Timeliness of data entry is critical to meet customer deadlines and delivery dates.
  • Analyze and verify data requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, accuracy, and conformity to data standards and principles.
  • Work with business users to perform cost-benefit and return on investment (ROI) analyses for proposed data changes to aid management in making implementation decisions.
  • Create data flow models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to support developers and/or the project team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud technologies as it relates to Data Governance.
  • Possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Possess the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written why data practices and standards are needed.
  • May require minimal travel on occasion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System.
Minimum years of Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years previous work-related experience in assessing, designing, building, and implementing data products
Required /Preferred Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
Required/Preferred Professional Requirements
  • DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
  • Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)
  • Scrum certification
