MANAGER, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING: Custom Development DIRECT HIRE LOCATION: Chicago, IL (Hybrid) The nation's leading health care performance improvement companyis looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a small team of software/quality engineers to build high value products and services for their members. Shares responsibility for technical quality, architecture, operational readiness, and technical debt for assigned set of products and applications. Will work closely with BRM, Scrum Master, Team, Principals to achieve this goal.

Responsibilities:
  • Supports high-level technical solutioning, estimating initiatives in the pipeline.
  • Makes hands-on design, development and architectural contributions to assigned team(s).
  • Plays the functional role of Engineering Owner for small to medium sized development teams.
  • Encourages shared team ownership of projects, products, applications, and problem/issue resolution. Be available as a player/coach and guide.
  • Acts as an escalation point for production high severity issues as needed.
  • Supports the annual budgeting process, helping with estimations, feasibility, scheduling, capability, etc.
  • Plays a role in guilds, cohorts, and other enterprise initiatives.
  • Hires, onboards, manages, leads, coaches and develops a team of software/quality engineers.

    • Qualifications:
  • 8 plus years' of total work experience in software application development with some experience leading teams.
  • At least 5 years progressive experience with various web application development platforms needed.
  • Knowledge and experience on web application development is required.
  • Skills on SQL, Microsoft .Net, Java and front-end frameworks (Angular preferred) are required.
  • Experience in Azure cloud application platform is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field. Any combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
