Mechanical Engineer - Robotics Startup

Location: Houston, TX

The company's product is an autonomous robot that is improving safety and efficiency in several of the biggest and most crucial industries.The company has raised series A funding. It is backed by leading investors in the industry, and already has industry leaders as customers. It has about 20 employees and 7 engineers and is on pace to have 30 employees by the end of the year.The company will pay up to $120k in salary, plus equity which could be lucrative.

Job Responsibilities:Depending on your strengths and interests, here are the possible job duties:- Working collaboratively with your team members to develop autonomous robots.- Designing, building, and testing mechanical components and assemblies.- Revising existing mechanical components and assemblies in order to improve reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and usability.- Updating CAD, drawings, and other documentation.- Designing and executing procedures for stress testing of robots for different conditions and use cases.- Performing Failure Mode and Effects Analysis in order to predict future failures.- Performing root cause analysis after failures occur on the robots.

Qualifications:- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.- At least 3 years of professional mechanical engineering experience.- Proficiency with CAD (OnShape, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).- Significant experience working on electromechanical systems and large (100+ components) assemblies.- Experience designing with metal, plastics, and composite materials.- Proficiency in FEA and linear stress analysis calculations.- Experience in applying mechanics theory (statics, kinematics, etc.) to inform your designs.- Experience designing for manufacturability, serviceability, usability, and reliability.

Nice to have:- Experience designing highly products that were manufactured at scale.- Experience designing for certifications (ATEX, IECEx, UL, FCC, CE).- Experience with autonomous robotics or vehicles.
