JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIESAs the lead technician assists the supervisor in all aspects of job responsibilities.Actively participates in training and orientation of new technicians to learn job duties and responsibilities.

Administers and maintains competency testing documentation of all the training provided.

Assists section supervisor with department functions.

Communicates problems with Supervisor or Lab Manager as needed.

Provides input for employee evaluations as requested.

Independently performs work without undue reliance on others and assists co-workers as time permits

Keeps abreast of new procedures and policies

Performs and documents all required quality control/quality assurance

Maintains neat, accurate and complete records according to established policies and procedures

Readily instructs new personnel and students regarding theories, techniques, and processes

Performs all job duties in accordance with established protocolsCorrectly receives, accessions, processes, and assures proper identification of specimens

Evaluates specimen integrity and notifies appropriate personnel of unacceptable specimens in accordance with departmental procedure.

Maintains neat, accurate and complete records according to established policies and procedures

Acquires and maintains proficiency in departmental functions

Completes all work assignments in a timely manner.Prioritizes and organizes workflow, meeting productivity goals of the section

Adjusts to daily workflows and assists daily as needed.

Remains knowledgeable of processes and pre-analytical procedures enabling efficient trouble shooting and problem solving.

Assists with monitoring and documenting of the sections inventory control system while assuring effective use of supplies.

Other duties as assignedBachelor's degree with major course work in one of the basic sciences. May substitute required education degree with equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
