Advisor Services Technology (AST) group within Schwab Technology Services (STS) is responsible for the applications, services, platforms and technologies required to deliver a suite of products, including Schwab Advisor Center, Schwab Advisor Portfolio Connect, Schwab Intelligent Integration and variety of key capabilities and tools to Registered Investment Advisors (RIA's). AS Gateway services team is part of the AST group and provides REST APIs with wide ranging integrations for vendor partners and advisory firms to directly support advisor's business success.

AS Gateway services team is recruiting to hire a driven, results-oriented Software Development Engineer who shares our passion for technology, innovation and excellence. Successful candidate to be responsible for individual coding contributions to the team. The candidate will work in a team onsite and offshore engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the overall software development lifecycle and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software product releases. What you are good at

  • Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to define strategy and scope of software requirements (decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks)
  • Deliver new concepts and features, working alongside development peers in an agile environment
  • Serve as an informal leader: leading code reviews and mentoring junior team members
  • Partner with scrum master and product owner to provide development sizing & cost analysis estimates
  • Utilize automated software test tools and frameworks such as test driven development to achieve the highest quality in software delivery
  • Support integration efforts to build whole systems from various subsystems
  • Identify technology risks early and establish mitigation plans

What you have

  • Advanced technical skills:
  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Engineering OR related degree and/or practical experience
  • Advanced .Net web and service development skills, typically built through 8+ years of applicable experience developing in .Net/C#
  • Expert in object-oriented design, SOA, design patterns, development, implementation and maintenance.
  • Good understanding of design patterns, architecture and development standards, guidelines and SOLID principles
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced customer focused environment involves a generous amount of multi-tasking.
  • Thorough understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
  • Self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
  • Good understanding of latest Architecture and Development Standards and Guidelines
  • Independently plans own work and are accountable to meet schedules and deliverables
  • Experience with distributed multi-tier applications, NO SQL databases, and SQL is preferred

Preferred Technical Qualifications:

  • Experience with frameworks such as .NET, .NET Core
  • Experience developing/managing REST and SOAP-based Web Service API(s) in a transaction processing environment
  • Experience with distributed multi-tier applications, OAuth security, NoSQL databases, MongoDB and/or SQL is preferred
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry
