Neos is currently seeking a Network Administrator for a contract position with our client in Austin, Texas.

Job Summary: Incumbent performs professional and technical work associated with production UNIX systems for the Austin Independent School District. Incumbent is responsible for leading the installation and administration of UNIX-based systems, including account setup, security controls, server management, daily backups, and application software configuration.

kills Requirements: This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customer or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management. Incumbent must have the ability to solve problems quickly and completely, identify tasks, which require automation and automate them, and have a solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating system. Incumbent must understand paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts, and can use performance analysis to tune systems. Incumbent must also have a solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understands principles of routing, client/server programming, the design of consistent network-wide file system layouts, and the ability to program in an administrative language (Tk, Perl, a shell). Incumbent should have experience with SCSI device setup and installation, board-level diagnosis and repair of computer systems, and component-level diagnosis and repair of computer systems. Incumbent should have experience with the specific operating systems, applications, or programming languages in use at the site (for example HP-UX, SunOS, AIX). Incumbent should have experience with more than one UNIX-based operating system, with sites running more than one UNIX-based operating system, and familiarity with both System V and BSD-based UNIX operating systems.Incumbent should also have experience with non-UNIX operating systems (for example,Windows server, MacOS), and with internetworking UNIX and other operating systems (for example, Windows server, MacOS). Incumbent must have experience configuring network file systems (for example, NFS), and with network file synchronization schemes (for example, rsync). Incumbent must have experience with TCP/IP networking protocols, high- speed networking, X or X terminals, and Internet connections. Incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of network security (for example, building firewalls, deploying authentications systems, or applying cryptography to network applications), and with host security (for example, passwords, uids/gids, file permissions, file system integrity, and use of security packages). Must also have knowledge of deploying Linux-based VMs in a VMware environment. Includes creating templates, deploying OVAs, deploying new VMs, monitoring and reporting of usage ast Host, Cluster & Datacenter level. Prefer experience with Ansible, Foreman/Red Hat Satellite
