That’s where you come in.The Nutritionist III will support the Pediatric Gastroenterology Transplant Clinic and Serves as the nutrition expert and collaborates with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide personalized and person-centered care towards the support, treatment, and management of wellness for those living with various conditions including, but not limited to, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)UT Physicians Pediatric Gastroenterology specializes in many areas, including the management of problems unique to infants (colic, vomiting, and growth problems), as well as complex pediatric problems including short bowel syndrome, and liver transplantation. Intestinal rehabilitation and liver transplantation are two strengths of our program, and we are the service that follows children on nutritional support and after transplantation. In conjunction with the Texas Liver Center, we are part of a team of nationally renowned medical experts, who are committed to providing children and adolescents with leading-edge medical care in a compassionate environment. Current areas of active basic and translational research include necrotizing enterocolitis, infantile colic, gastrointestinal and liver involvement in mitochondrial disorders, and functional dyspepsia. Some of our most important collaborators include pediatric surgeons, neurologists, and neonatologists, and our research utilizes core facilities at U.T. and Baylor, through the NIH-Funded Digestive Diseases Center. Position Location:UTP Pediatric Gastroenterology Transplant ClinicUniversity Professional Building @ 6410 Fannin Street, Houston, TX 77030Schedule: Full Time, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pmPosition Key Accountabilities:

Responsible for provision of medical nutrition therapy to develop personalized care plans and self-management strategies and care plans with patients and their teams.

Maintains multicultural competency to provide optimal nutrition services for diverse populations.

Provides culturally appropriate assessment to identify barriers to healthful eating within the population.

Assesses patient’s needs around self-care and provides education, support and continuity of care.

Develops and implements plan via coordination of care with other healthcare professionals.

Develops personalized care plans with principles of shared decision-making, self-advocacy, and self-care to support a positive focus of control, drive patient engagement, and support optimal wellness choices and strategies.

Maintains patient records for benchmarking progress of nutritional care plans.

Adheres to internal regulations under the guidance of the manager and the department.

Maintains inventory of all nutrition education materials, including pamphlets, equipment, and audiovisuals.

Interprets and disseminates current scientific information regarding food, nutrition and health to other health professionals.

May manage Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations and salary planning.

Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:Certified Registered Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Licensed Registered Dietitian in the State of Texas. In Ob-Gyn, requires Certification in Medical Nutrition Therapy for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (POCS) or completion within 3 months of hire.
