The Pediatric Registered Nurse must be kind, compassionate,and caring towards children. ThePediatric Registered Nurse must have a broad knowledge of emergency pediatricnursing care and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The Pediatric RN assumes responsibility andaccountability for the application of nursing processes and the delivery ofpatient care in the emergency setting as well as effectively communicates withthe patient’s family and multidisciplinary team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, andevaluate patient care
Evaluates children and provides emergency care
Identifies changes in children's symptoms and intervenequickly and safely
Participates in pain management for children
Administers medication including oral, intramuscular,rectal, and intravenously
Performs venipuncture for blood draw and starts IV inchildren, toddlers, and infants
Monitors temperature, pulse, breathing, blood pressure anddocuments appropriately
Evaluates children for signs and symptoms of abuse andreport to proper authorities
Provides supportive care to dying children and theirfamilies
Deals with the anxieties and demands of parents, and helpfamilies deal with their child's illness or injury
Remains up to date on the latest developments, rules andregulations, drug therapies, equipment, and treatment procedures in pediatricnursing
Uses clinical judgment to manage delivery of patient caresafely and effectively
Communicates effectively to obtain a thorough medical history
Provides empathetic care and has the ability to relate tochildren
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse License with in the state ofpractice
Minimum of one year pediatric emergency room experiencepreferred
Pediatric experience required
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understands patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
